He's Gone

So, Tracy Sugarman, the WWII veteran on whom I based my main character in my third novel, Eugene Walsh, died in Westport, CT--I just learned--back in January.
I'd hoped the book, Mary's Crossing, would be published before his death, so that he could know how much of his story (and 8-hour interview) I used. Obviously that didn't happen. And since today is D-Day, I was just about to write him, as I have every D-Day, to thank him for his service to this country. Now it's too late...Darn it.
Remember them all, for all they did for us.
